Hundreds of protesters in the Chicago area will have charges against them dropped in the wake of national unrest that was sparked following the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx said while violent offenders, which include some looters, will be prosecuted, up to 817 protesters who had minor charges against them will be off the hook.
