Development planned for many Prince George’s Metro stops

Seven of the 15 Metroail stations in Prince George’s County have some sort of development planned on land belonging to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, according to a recent tally by the authority.

The projects will bring more than 2.6 million square feet of office space, almost 2,900 town houses and multifamily housing units, more than 1.1 million square feet of retail space and at least 300 hotel rooms to the county.

The Blue, Green and Orange lines run through the county but only one station, Largo, is beyond the Beltway.

Only one of the projects is under way — a mixed-use office, residential and retail development at the Prince George’s Plaza station in Hyattsville. A portion of the construction, luxury apartment community Mosaic at Metro, is financed in part by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
