The cost of a university education is skyrocketing. It’s the fault of the Federal Reserve, though perhaps not for the reason one might think. In 1985, the average annual tuition at a four-year school was about $5,500. Today, tuition is well over $22,000. With unemployment much higher for young people than for other groups, the average graduate leaves with about $35,000 of debt, and some have much more than that.
