LINCOLN, Neb. (Legal Newsline) – If a new poll proves to be a positive indicator, a Republican will most likely win Nebraska’s open senate in November.
A Rasmussen poll released Friday shows Republican Ben Sasse, a tea party favorite and former Bush administration official, currently holds a 17-point lead over his Democratic opponent, trial lawyer Dave Domina.
On Tuesday, Sasse captured 49.36 percent of the total primary vote to win the Republican nomination to run for the U.S. Senate.
Conversely, Domina received 44,811 votes for 67.47 percent to win the Democratic nomination, according to the office of the Nebraska Secretary of State.
According to the Rasmussen statewide survey, Nebraska voters support Sasse by a 51-34 margin over Domina. Five percent like some other candidate in the race, and 10 percent are undecided.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the survey of 750 likely voters on Wednesday and Thursday.
