Done! GOP boss Priebus a lock for second term

No major challenger has emerged to threaten Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus' bid for a second term, according to GOP officials.

As it stands today, he had collected 160 of the 168 votes needed to win, Priebus told Secrets. The party elections take place January 23-26 in Charlotte, N.C., four months after the Democrats nominated President Obama in the same city for his second term.

Party insiders suggested that the vote will be unanimous, and that the only reason the former Wisconsin GOP chief hasn't shored up all 168 votes is because he hasn't reached the remaining eight RNC voting members.

Priebus has been telling party officials that he plans to revamp the GOP's campaign technology and try it out in the off-year Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial elections. He also plans to build national support for cutting spending and debt.

Democrats are also keeping on their battling chairman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida.
