Nationals ace leads majorsin Ks per nine innings
He may have only 60 or 70 innings left in 2012 so Nationals fans might as well enjoy Stephen Strasburg while they still can. By early September, his season could be over even if his teammates have a playoff berth or even a division title around the corner.
But all of the talk centering on when Washington's ace right-hander will stop pitching is obscuring what he's actually done while on the field. He is 9-4 with a 2.82 ERA entering his first start of the second half on Sunday against the Miami Marlins.
Strasburg leads all major league pitchers with 11.64 strikeouts per nine innings. Only five pitchers have a better strikeout-to-walks ratio than Strasburg's (4.57). He was named to the National League All-Star team for the first time. Sunday's outing will be his sixth career start against Miami, the most against any team.
