Islamist supporters of Egypt's ousted President Mohammed Morsi are holding new protests around the country, days ahead of his trial. Pro-Morsi protesters held rallies Friday, some numbering several thousand, in several locations in Cairo and in other cities. In Egypt's second-largest city, Alexandria, police fired tear gas to break up clashes between Morsi supporters and opponents. Morsi's trial begins Monday, on charges of inciting murder. The ousted president has not been seen since July 3 when he was taken into custody to secret detention. His supporters plan larger protests on the day of the trial.
