A 23-year-old woman was groped in Springfield on Thursday, and officials said the attack is believed to be related to at least seven others in the area.

About 4 p.m. Thursday, a 23-year-old woman was standing at a bus stop in the 7200 block of Commerce Street when a man grabbed her from behind. The woman screamed after she was groped, and the suspect fled, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The woman described her attacker as a Hispanic man with a short beard who wore a black baseball hat, tan pants and white tennis shoes. The man was described as fitting the description of the suspect in previous attacks in the area.

The earliest of the eight reported attacks in the Springfield area occurred in September, officials said.

Additionally, a woman was approached from behind and groped in Falls Church on Oct. 19. A Fairfax County police spokeswoman said she did not know whether county police have linked the Falls Church attack to the others.
