Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., a folk hero for liberal activists, has firmly denied that she was running for president in 2016.

Warren was asked about her future political intentions by David Axelrod during a forum at the University of Chicago on Sunday.

"David, I am not running for president," Warren replied. "I am working in the United States Senate. That's my job."

"I know you are, but under no circumstances, do you see yourself running for office?" Axelrod continued. "Are you willing to say that? Because then these guys can go and relax."

"Go relax," Warren chuckled. "I am not running for president."
