An emergency was declared on a United Airlines flight from Denver to Washington Dulles International Airport because a passenger would not follow instructions for landing, according to a spokesman for the airline.

Media reports stated that the passenger, a man, was praying in the aisle.

The plane landed at Dulles at around 9 p.m. Thursday. After it landed, medics and police arrived and the passenger was taken to a hospital for a mental-health evaluation, according to a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman.
