Like those that proceeded them, Michigan Technological University's current crop of hardy students are laughing in the face of the bitter cold gripping Michigan's far north and celebrating the school's annual Winter Carnival.
For more than three weeks, students on the Houghton campus have been laboring on the intricate works of icy art that go on display Feb. 9-11.
Those who prefer deadline pressure are entering in the All Nighter category, doing their work from 10 p.m. Feb. 8 through 8 a.m. Feb. 9.
Music, dancing, sled dog races and food also mark the carnival.
