Attorney General Eric Holder explained during a hearing with the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday afternoon that he couldn’t remember the exact date he decided to recuse himself from the investigation regarding the phone records obtained by the Associated Press.

“I’m not sure, I think it was toward the beginning of the matter, I don’t know exactly when but it was toward the beginning of the matter,” Holder explained when questioned about the date by Rep. Spencer Bachus R-Ala.

Holder added that there was no written record of his recusal from the case.

"I certainly didn't alert the White House," Holder added, explaining that he would have told the deputy attorney general about his recusal from the case.
