Former CIA director Michael Hayden suggested that David Petraeus wants to testify about the Benghazi terrorist attack and his initial erroneous claims that a Youtube video sparked the September 11 violence.

“There’s certainly legitimate questions, knowing what we now know [about the attack],” Hayden said today on Fox News. “I’m sure Chairman Rogers, Senior Member Ruppersberger, Senator Feinstein, Senator Chambliss want to have this personal dialogue with Director Petraeus. And, frankly, in these circumstances, I think he would want to have that dialogue as well to set the record straight.”

Petraeus resigned as CIA head on Friday after admitting to an extramarital affair. Before resigning, he had been expected to testify this week about the Benghazi attack, but the Senate Intelligence Committee said after his resignation that he was not testifying.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., who chairs the Homeland Security Committee, said this morning that Petraeus should testify.
