As I reported yesterday, Facebook users who had free-wheeling political views that didn’t conform with the usual Conservative/Liberal/Republican/Democrat categories complained that their information was deleted.

Examples of deleted political views include "Correct," "Social liberal/Fiscal conservative," and "a bit left wing and a bit right wing."

I received a response from Andrew Noyes, Facebook’s Manager of Public Policy Communications, who admitted that an internal bug had unpublished the data.

“We recently experienced a bug that unpublished some users’ ‘Political Views.’ The issue has been resolved and the ‘Political Views’ of those affected have been restored,” he said in a statement.

Noyes said that the bug had recently been discovered, but that the company restored the information yesterday.
