Skipping school in Fairfax County? Better hope your parents don't check their email.

Starting next week, Fairfax County Public Schools will send an email notifying parents if their middle or high school student is absent as of 9:30 a.m., the school system has announced. The emails will go out between 10 and 10:15 a.m., and any families that do not have an email address on file will receive a phone call that evening.

If a student remains absent later in the day, parents may receive an additional phone call.
