First lady Michelle Obama has a new, and third, spokeswoman, this time tapping a top Estee Lauder executive to help fashion her second-term image.

The White House on Monday said that Maria Cristina "MC" Gonzalez Noguera will replace Kristina Schake as special assistant to the president and communications director for the first lady. She begins in July. It is the first lady's third spokesman in five years.

While Schake had a broad political background, Noguera, a native of Puerto Rico, comes from the corporate world. And coming from the cosmetics world, she should also be a good fit for a first lady described by many as a fashion icon.

Said Mrs. Obama in the White House statement: "Kristina has been an essential and valued advisor to me over the past two and a half years. Her expertise in strategic planning and her creativity have been invaluable not just to me but to the entire Administration and I am truly grateful for her leadership and counsel. While she will be greatly missed at the White House, the impact of her work will be lasting.

"While Kristina leaves big shoes to fill, MC brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of expertise that will make her an incredible asset to our team. My time at the White House has been focused on ensuring all our children and families thrive, and as an experienced communications professional who shares my commitment to this mission, I know MC will be an outstanding partner."
