RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A special election will be held Feb. 25 for the Virginia House of Delegates seat vacated by Lynwood Lewis.
House Speaker William J. Howell announced the date Tuesday, a day after Lewis prevailed in a recount to succeed Lt. Gov. Ralph S. Northam in the state Senate.
A recount Monday gave the Democrat a scant lead over Republican Wayne Coleman in a special Senate election.
Howell says the filing deadline for the special House election is Feb. 10.
The House's 100th District includes the counties of Accomack and Northampton and portions of the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
