After a heated debate during a Senate committee hearing on gun control on Thursday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer she felt “patronized” by Sen. Ted Cruz’s lecture on the Constitutional right to bear arms.
“Well, I just felt patronized,” she explained later to Wolf Blitzer. “I felt he was somewhat arrogant about it. When you come from where I’ve come from and what you’ve seen, when you found a dead body and put your finger in bullet holes, you really realize the impact of weapons.”
During the hearing, Cruz pressed Feinstein on the meaning of the Second Amendment.
Feinstein responded heatedly, “I’m not a sixth grader, Senator.”
In the interview with CNN later, Blitzer asked if Cruz and Feinstein spoke after the hearing.
“No, I needed to cool down,” Feinstein said. She indicated she did apologize later in the day for the way she responded to Cruz’s questioning.
