SALINA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 26-year-old man has been killed after his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle on a Syracuse-area highway, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says several motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed on the Onondaga Lake Parkway around 7 p.m. Sunday when one of the bikers started to lose control of his motorcycle on a curve in the town of Salina (suh-LY'-nuh).

Deputies say Kenneth Cullen of East Syracuse drove into oncoming traffic and slammed into an SUV. Cullen was killed instantly and the SUV's driver was pulled from the burning wreck by another motorist.

A second biker was hit by debris from the crash and suffered minor injuries. The SUV driver was also slightly injured.
