Republican Keith Fimian on Tuesday officially conceded the congressional race in Northern Virginia's 11th District to Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly.

"For me, today is the end of this campaign," Fimian said.

Fimian said he will not pursue a recount of the vote unless the results "change significantly" when state election officials certify Connolly's 981-vote margin of victory on Nov. 22.

Though Connolly won a second term, three other incumbent Democrats in Virginia were defeated in a nationwide Republican sweep that captured at least 60 House seats.

"There were four competitive races in Virginia," Connolly said. "Only one was left standing."
