One firefighter suffered minor injures Monday while responding to a fire at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in D.C.

The fire began around 8 a.m. in a pair of connected townhouses on the base, officials said. Flames and smoke from the blaze also affected three additional townhouses before officials could put out the fire.

The occupants of the five homes were not hurt in the incident and the injured D.C. firefighter's injuries were non-life threatening, officials said.

All of the affected residents have places to stay until repairs are made to their homes, officials said.
