First Lady Michelle Obama suggested that the Democratic National Convention use Oprah to introduce her husband, as a counter to Clint Eastwood’s popular performance last week at the Republican National Convention.

“It would have to be somebody who knows him,” Mrs. Obama replied when E! News asked her which celebrity should introduce President Obama before he speaks tomorrow night. “Somebody like Oprah. I don’t know. People who have spent time with him, who know him, who understand his heart, who know his values, I think, then it’s not just a celebrity, but it’s another person talking about a friend or a colleague and I think that’s a bit more authentic than just having a big name.”

She agreed that George Clooney could be a good choice as well, because “he’s cute.”

To counter Eastwood, any celebrity will have to be good. Political pundits generally disliked Eastwood’s performance, but a new poll shows that he was the most popular RNC speaker of the week.
