Arlington County Board member Jay Fisette will seek a fifth term on the board.

Fisette told the Sun Gazette on Monday that he had filed the necessary paperwork and received about 300 signatures, double the 125 required, to place his name on the Nov. 5 ballot.

"I am excited to continue our work together to make a difference in people's lives, in our community, and in our world," Fisette said. "Ours is a community worth fighting for."

Fisette said he hoped to balance the short-term budget adjustments with long-term needs, ensure the county's schools remain "among the very best" and help reduce the use of energy.
