It remains among the most famous secret comments from President Obama caught by a hot mic.
"This is my last election," he told former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev during a U.S.-Russia bilateral meeting photo op last summer. "After my election I have more flexibility," Obama added while assuredly grabbing the right arm of his counterpart.
Medvedev noted, "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir" Putin, who succeeded him as president.
Apparently not. Under pressure from Congress to snub Putin because Russia is harboring National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, the president today cancelled an upcoming Moscow summit with Putin. The White House is also upset with Moscow over missile defense, specifically the issue on the table when he bragged about his post-election flexibility.
