FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A new health clinic opened this month in a public housing complex near Flint's southeast side to bring holistic care to people there and in the surrounding neighborhood.

The Flint Journal reports ( http://bit.ly/1oOIreW ) that it is the second Genesee Community Health Center to open as a primary care provider for residents who wouldn't normally have care or the care would not be easily accessible to them.

Clinic staff members have gone through the complex to introduce themselves to its 240 residents and answer questions. A family fun day was held in July.

Genesee Health System was formerly known as Genesee County Community Mental Health. It received a $608,333 federal grant in 2012 for startup costs for two clinics. The first opened that year in Flint.
