RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Floyd County man has won a $2 million Powerball prize.

The Virginia Lottery says Darrell Burnette matched the first five numbers in the Aug. 18 Powerball drawing, missing only the Powerball number. Normally, that would win $1 million. But Burnette became the first Virginia Lottery player to successfully increase the prize to $2 million by spending an extra dollar to make his ticket a "Power Play."

The increased prize is one of the enhancements made to Powerball last January.

Burnette, a small-business owner, told lottery officials he has no immediate plans for the winnings.
