JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — The Bridger-Teton National Forest is extending its order requiring people to store food so that bears can't get into it.

The food storage order had been scheduled to expire on Dec. 1, but Forest Supervisor Jacque Buchanan has extended it to protect humans and bears.

The food storage order will remain in effect until Jan. 6, through the bison-hunting season.

Under the order, all food, animal carcasses and other items that might attract bears must be stored where bears can't get them at night. The order also applies during daytime hours if the items are left unattended.
