HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — Former astronaut and Nebraska native Clayton Anderson will answer questions this week when he attends the 2013 Nebraska Junior Academy of Science Central Nebraska regional science fair in Hastings.

The science fair takes place Thursday on the campus of Hastings College. At noon students and teachers will have the opportunity to interview Anderson via Skype.

Anderson's career with NASA began in 1983 at the Johnson Space Center. Roughly half his work was as an engineer, half was as an astronaut. Anderson spent about five months working aboard the International Space Station in 2007, and was part of a 15-day resupply mission to the station in 2010.

Anderson graduated from a high school in Ashland and earned a bachelor's degree at Hastings College in Hastings in 1981.
