Former GOP Senate leader Trent Lott and former Democratic Senator John Breaux are lobbying for a Russian bank sanctioned by President Obama.

Lott, who was a Mississippi senator from 1995 to 2007, and Breaux, a Louisiana senator from 1987 to 2005, registered as lobbyists for Gazprombank GPD, a subsidiary of Russia’s third largest bank Gazprombank, according to a recent disclosure filed with the Senate on Aug. 29.

According to their lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs, the two once-powerful senators will lobby on “banking laws and regulations including applicable sanctions,” the disclosure says.

In July, *the Treasury Department sanctioned Gazprombank GPD, along with other Russian entities, for aiding in “continued attempts to destabilize eastern Ukraine and its ongoing occupation of Crimea.”

More than 415 former members of Congress are now lobbying in some way, according to OpenSecrets.org.
