PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — A former northwest Florida teacher is going to spend six years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

Jeffrey Richards had been a teacher in both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. U.S. Attorney Pamela Marsh said that the 63-year-old Milton resident had downloaded more than 100,000 images and videos of children during a 10-year period.

In addition, Marsh said that Richards possessed an audio file in which a young female portraying a student was engaged in graphic sexual acts with her "teacher" in exchange for a favorable grade.

A federal judge sentenced Richards on Wednesday to six years followed by 10 years of supervised release. He will be required to register as a sex offender once he is released from custody.

The prosecution was a result of joint federal and local investigation.
