A fundraiser is being held on Sunday for the Alexandria police officer who was critically injured in the line of duty last week.

Peter Laboy, a 17-year-veteran of the department, was shot in the head during a traffic stop in Old Town on Feb. 27, officials said. The suspected shooter has been charged, and Laboy continues to recover from his injuries.

The fundraiser will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Virtue Feed and Grain, located at 106 South Union St. in Alexandria. Virtue, the Alexandria Police Association and other businesses are putting together the event.

A minimum $10 donation will be collected at the door, and food is included. The event will include a raffle and silent auction, and anyone wishing to donate to the auction can email Laboyfundraiser@gmail.com
