A funeral for the University of Maryland student who was fatally shot by his roommate is scheduled for Saturday in a Philadelphia suburb.

A visitation for 22-year-old Stephen Alex Rane will be held on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mauger Givnish Funeral Home in Malvern, Pa., and a memorial service will follow, according to an obituary on the funeral home's website. Rane will be buried after the funeral at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, Pa.

Early Tuesday morning, Rane and 22-year-old Neal Oa were shot by another of their roommates, 23-year-old Dayvon Maurice Green. The shooter, a graduate student at Maryland, then killed himself in the backyard of the off-campus house that the three students shared, police said. Oa sustained non-life threatening injuries from the shooting and has since been released from the hospital.

At the time he was killed, Rane was a senior at Maryland majoring in English and Linguistics. He was born in Lafayette, Ind. and graduated from Centennial High School in Ellicott City in 2009.

Rane's mother and stepfather are work for the University of Maryland and live in Silver Spring. According to the obituary, Rane's father and stepmother live in Glen Mills, Pa., about 11 miles from the funeral home.

In addition to his parents and stepparents, Rane is survived by his sisters and grandmothers, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
