A Gainesville man was arrested in connection with Friday evening's fatal stabbing of a former high-school football star, Fairfax County police officials said.

Johnny E. Bonilla, 22, was arrested at his home and charged with murder Saturday afternoon in the slaying of 19-year-old Zavier O. Stringfellow, officials said.

Police determined that Bonilla and Stringfellow did not know each other before Friday evening, but they had planned to meet up that night. After they met, Stringfellow was stabbed during a struggle. Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said that detectives were looking into what the motive was in the incident.

An officer found Stringfellow's body at about 7 p.m. Friday, inside a minivan that had crashed into a barrier at the end of a service road off of Chain Bridge Road near Glengyle Drive in the Vienna area.

Stringfellow, of the Manassas area, graduated from Battlefield High School in Prince William County, where he was named to several all-star football teams, according to media reports. He was a sophomore at Ferrum College in Southwestern Virginia, where he played defensive end for the football team.
