A Gaithersburg man, his pregnant wife and their two children were killed Sunday in a massive chain-reaction accident in rural Nebraska, authorities said Wednesday.

The Associated Press reported that a semi-truck on Interstate 80 plowed into the back of a 2010 Ford Mustang driven by 30-year-old Christopher Schmidt, pushing his vehicle into his wife's.

Her 2007 Toyota Corolla was rammed under another semi, killing 28-year-old Diana Schmidt, 3-year-old Samuel Schmidt and 2-year-old Conner Schmidt.

Diana Schmidt was 30 weeks pregnant.

The driver of the semi-truck that hit Christopher Schmidt's Mustang has been charged with four counts of manslaughter and four counts of vehicular homicide.
