This Feb. 28, 2013 photo shows The John F. Kennedy Center Memorial Center for the Performance Arts illuminated as part of the "Nordic Cool 2013: Northern Lights" exhibit, in Washington. Innovative Danish lighting designer Jesper Kongshaug recreates the effect of the Northern Lights on all four sides of the Kennedy Center's façade. There are probably more free things to do in the U.S. capital than nearly any other major city in the world. The most popular museums and the zoo are free, thanks to government funding, as well as the picturesque memorials and monuments.
