HOUSTON (AP) — Doctors for former President George H.W. Bush say he's improved after weeks of treatment for a bronchitis-related cough, though he's not going home yet.

A spokesman at Methodist Hospital in Houston said Tuesday that Bush's status hasn't changed and he remains in stable condition. George Kovacik (koh-VAH'-chik) says the 88-year-old Bush continues "to make positive progress" in his recovery.

No release date has been set for Bush. He's been hospitalized since Nov. 23.

Bush also spent about a week in the hospital in early November. He was discharged, but he had a flare-up around Thanksgiving and was readmitted.

Bush and his wife, Barbara, split their time between homes in Houston and Kennebunkport, Maine.
