Prince George's County Police said a man assaulted a teenage girl as she walked to her school bus stop in Fort Washington.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, near Lourdes Drive and Hickory Drive.

An adult male grabbed the girl, causing them both to fall to the ground. She was able to kick her attacker and escape. The victim told her father, who called police.

Prince George's police positioned marked cruisers at the three bus stops in the vicinity of the assault Thursday afternoon. Police officers are also actively canvassing the area and following up on leads.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, in his late 20s to early 30s. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and sweat pants.
