FERNDALE, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police say a man crossing the street in Ferndale was injured after being struck by a passing car.
The collision occurred Saturday evening at the intersection of Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard and Ferndale Road.
Police say the pedestrian walked out in front of the car at the crosswalk. The man was crossing against the traffic signal and was wearing dark clothing.
Police say the driver tried to brake but could not avoid hitting the man, whose injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities believe the pedestrian had been drinking and that his alcohol use contributed to the collision.
Police say the driver of the car had not been drinking and there's no evidence to suggest that she had been speeding.
