House Speaker John Boehner came under friendly fire Wednesday when three Republican women senators said that he and other lawmakers have to rise above their jobs to push a debt increase and budget deal.

“This should not be about someone's speakership. This should not be about the next election. This should be about the future of our country, where we are right now. We are shutdown as a government. We are facing a debt crisis,” Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie.

She appeared with Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, who also urged passage of a deal.

Ayotte said that the fight over Obamacare is over for now. “Let’s face it, the government is shutdown, the Obamacare exchange is open,” she said.
