New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told CBS's Jan Crawford that the current campaigns of disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner and former governor Eliot Spitzer are "great political theater."
Asked if such theatrics benefit his state, Cuomo responded: "You know, I think that's part of the charm of New York, you know. We tend to have the eccentric, we tend to have the entertaining and this is a little political theater. I think that's all people think of it. I don't think they think anything more of it."
Cuomo refused to say if he wished either or both Weiner and Spitzer had decided not to run for office, but said he doesn't believe he should tell anybody whether they can or cannot run.
"That's not how the system works and I don't think it's effective anyway," Cuomo said.
