Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a proud Notre Dame alumnus, will attend Monday night's BCS National Championship Game in Miami.

McDonnell, a 1976 grad, will be on hand with his wife, First Lady Maureen McDonnell, and four children: Jeanine, Cailin, Sean and Bobby.

A spokesman for McDonnell said some of the tickets were purchased by the McDonnell family and others were received as gifts. He would not disclose who gave McDonnell the tickets or their values, nor would he say if McDonnell paid out of his own pocket to attend the game.

Notre Dame plays Alabama at 8:30 p.m. McDonnell will be back in the Old Dominion by Tuesday, where he is scheduled to hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m.
