Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, D-Mich., who gave a wild speech at the Democratic National Convention, is now fundraising for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Granholm relied on the sustained use of water imagery to make her appeal for funding. “If we don’t close the spending gap with the Republican Super PACs right now, we may see our candidates washed out with ads in the final weeks of the campaign,” Granholm said in a fundraising email. “The tidal wave of attack ads hitting our candidates right now could be devastating to our chances in November. They’re saturating the airwaves from California to New York, and threaten to swamp our candidates’ in the final run up to Election Day.”

She added that Democrats risk being “drowned out” in the closing weeks of their congressional races.

This message appears to be Granholm’s first fundraising appeal for DCCC since she startled observers with a very high-energy speech at the Democratic National Convention earlier this month. You can watch video from her speech above, courtesy of ABC.

Friend –

We have the momentum. We have the message. We DON’T have the money.

The Super PACs funding the Tea Party Republicans’ campaigns don’t have that problem. They’ve got hundreds of millions of dollars, and they’re using it to attack President Obama and our candidates with vicious and misleading ads on Medicare, healthcare and the economy.

If we don’t close the spending gap with the Republican Super PACs right now, we may see our candidates washed out with ads in the final weeks of the campaign.

Sunday is the most important fundraising deadline of the election. Contribute $3 right now to win a Democratic majority for President Obama >>

The tidal wave of attack ads hitting our candidates right now could be devastating to our chances in November. They’re saturating the airwaves from California to New York, and threaten to swamp our candidates’ in the final run up to Election Day.

Democrats maintain slim leads in many competitive districts, but they’ve got to have the money to avoid being drowned out in these final weeks of the campaign.

Let’s win this.
