GRAY, Tenn. (AP) — The museum and visitor center at the Gray Fossil Site is celebrating Darwin Day with lectures and children's activities.

According to news release from East Tennessee State University, Darwin Day is an international celebration of science that occurs annually around the birthday of Charles Darwin, who was born Feb. 12, 1809.

The events this year take place on Saturday. General admission will be half-price for adults and free for children.

Darwin Day seeks to recognize Darwin's scientific accomplishments and explain the far-reaching influence of evolutionary science.

The ETSU Natural History Museum's Darwin Day is dedicated to providing the public with scientific information about evolution and other topics in a thought-provoking and informal setting.
