SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Got a question or tip about crime in southwest Missouri? Now there's an app for that.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office in Springfield has created a free smartphone app for iPhones and Android devices.
Called "MOGreeneSO," the app gives smartphone users access to active Greene County warrants, a list of sex offenders and a crime-tip hotline.
Users can also check a list of who's currently locked up in the county jail.
Numerous law enforcement agencies across the country have started embracing mobile and social media technologies to engage citizens.
In Kansas City, the police department has started occasional "tweet-alongs" in which the department's Twitter followers can see posts about in-progress police calls.
