FOREST PARK, Ga. (AP) — Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal says a grocery chain is poised to create more than 100 new jobs in metro Atlanta.

Deal said in a statement Thursday that Kroger is planning to create 120 jobs at a new distribution center in Forest Park — which is about 12 miles south of downtown Atlanta.

Deal says the company is planning to invest more than $175 million in the facility over the next five years.

The governor touts Georgia's highway and rail system, relatively low cost of business and a skilled workforce as reasons the state is the right place for the company to expand.

Officials say Kroger will open a distribution center on the nearly 1,000-acre Fort Gillem property, which is a former U.S. Army Base.
