< p>BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (AP) — Groups trying to develop policy to support West Virginia farms and food businesses will meet in Bridgeport this week to review the progress they've made so far in building the state's food economy.

Farmers, health advocates, agency officials and others are attending the conference to discuss farm-to-table efforts over the past year and to build new partnerships and action plans for this year.

The initiative is led by the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition and the West Virginia Community Development Hub.

Among the key areas to be discussed are: local food aggregation and distribution; school gardens and youth in agriculture; processing infrastructure; and improving access to healthy local food.

The event gets under way at noon Tuesday in the Bridgeport Conference Center.
