During a visit to an elementary school in Clinton, Mississippi yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama praised the state school system for working with her “Let’s Move” initiative to ban fattening foods from the school lunch menu.

“Your schools did hard work.  They replaced their fryers with steamers,” the First Lady said. “Hallelujah!”

Obama also praised faith communities and churches for their efforts noting that some groups “declared their congregations ‘no-fry zones’ where only healthy food was allowed.”

“With all those people stepping up, the results of these efforts speak for themselves,” Obama said proudly. “In recent years, the state of Mississippi has seen obesity rates drop 13 percent among elementary school-aged kids.”

Celebrity chef Rachael Ray of the Food Network joined the First Lady at the event.
