Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has vowed "to do something" about the Supreme Court ruling last week that closely held corporations cannot be forced to cover the cost of employees' abortifacients.

“We're going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation,” Reid said Monday, referring to the court's 5-4 decision regarding the popular arts and crafts store.

The Nevada senator’s vague vow comes on the heels of him saying last week after the Supreme Court announced its decision that Democrat lawmakers will do what it takes to “protect” (see: pander) to women.

“If the Supreme Court will not protect women's access to health care, then Democrats will,” Reid said last week.

Democratic lawmakers are reportedly considering a number of proposals in response to the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby ruling, including amending the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act to strip closely held corporations off the ability to claim religious exemptions.

The 1993 bill was introduced in the House by then-Rep. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., it quickly passed the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate, was amended and then signed into law by then-President Bill Clinton.
