Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's love of Bryce Harper has been well documented -- from a speech on the Senate floor in 2010 praising the young player to his own "clown question, bro" moment -- so it's no surprise that Reid took to Twitter this week to encourage America to vote the star rookie into this year's All-Star contest.

"Today I'm casting a big vote: Bryce Harper for All Star team," he tweeted. "Let's send this Nevadan to KC!"

Not only did the Nationals' center fielder fail to make the team Thursday, the tweet also drew the ire of a partisan public.

"How about casting a vote on a #BUDGET, or a #jobs bill? UNBELIEVABLE!" replied one Twitter user. Another quipped: "How's that budget coming along? Or is that a clown question?"
