HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie has established a refinery task force to help determine the best solutions for Hawaii's energy needs.

The governor signed an executive order creating the task force on Tuesday.

Abercrombie says the panel will investigate the impacts of the impending closure of the Tesoro oil refinery in Hawaii.

He says the task force will research alternative energy possibilities and advise both the governor's office and the Legislature.

The task force includes 29 people, including government officials and energy industry leaders.

The governor told lawmakers during his January State of the State address that he planned to create the task force.

He says Hawaii needs to reduce its reliance on imported oil.
